About the Coach
When I was an elite athlete, I never thought I would be a coach.
I always thought I would go on to become a professional athlete and then quit and take all the glory.
As most individual athletes can be, I was self absorbed in my pursuit and MYSELF. I had a lot of injuries and though the REMNANTS of my sporting dreams still linger, life is about balance, and the pursuit of sport should ultimately be fun and satisfying.
That is my goal with Jackson Collett Athletics to change what I didn't like about elite sport and combine these changes with all the great things I EXPERIENCED. I am lucky to have had amazing coaches and people support me along the way (namely Mike Hurst, my dear friend and coach of 10 years) and Tom Ristuccia (my first ever coach) who both showed me how great it is to be part of something so few can do and have fun while doing it.
Through my INJURIES and many personal trials, I learnt that it wasn’t about all the medals and performances. It was about the friends I made, and the feeling of being better than yesterday that was the most wholesome.
My promise to you or your young athlete is fun, positivity, being held accountable to being your best, and good vibes at every session.
The rest is a bonus, and never impossible.
